Day 1 - 10/13 - Travel

So travel day is not none of my favorite days. They used to say getting there is half the fun and that may still be true in some cases but usually not those that involve any type of flying. Oh, it could have been worse but we flew Jet Blue who we have used before and thought were good. Since I had checked-in online, I found the line for the bag drop but they told us we had to go the international bag drop line even though we knew that St Thomas is not international. So we get to the international line and the guy there said we belong in the other line. We went back to the first line and told the lady the guy at the international line sent us back here and that we were not walking back there and since this line is shorter we would just check in here. UGH. We get our bags checked and because our gate was in some small terminal that only had 3 gates, we had to wait in a long line to get through security...what a pain. I did notice though that the international line that we were first sent to was now holding across the aisle and down the hall.
So after a pretty uneventful 4 hour flight, a 30 minute taxi ride (crammed with 8 other people) and a full 20 minute ferry ride, we finally land in STJ and are greeted by Elca who brings us to pick up our rental car and follow her to Seascape. 

We settled ourselves a bit and then tried to find our way into town to get some supplies. STJ really only has two main roads and they connect the east to the west, with a few smaller roads jutting off these to get to the rural areas. One would think that sound pretty easy but with all the twists and turns it is a bit intimidating at first and the narrow roads with cars, people, and animals doesn't help either.
Alas we are successful in getting provisions of bread, eggs, bacon, milk, cream and beer. We also find can di's and get some BBQ to take back to the villa so we can just hang out for the night. After getting up so early today, we are off to bed early.
